If you’ve stayed off of Twitter today, this should be a treat.

If you don’t have a Twitter account, or have been disciplined and stayed off of it today, tonight’s NHL Expansion Draft should be a lot of fun. Even if you have been on Twitter and have seen the leaks from the blue checkmarks, there will be some surprises in store.

Don’t forget, too, that sometimes the verified accounts can be wrong.

The Blues have two key candidates for selection tonight: Vladimir Tarasenko and Vince Dunn. Both would be solid trade pieces for the Blues, especially if packaged together, but general manager Doug Armstrong couldn’t get a deal hammered out before the expansion roster freeze earlier this week.

Both are valuable players in their own right - Tarasenko coming off of a surgery that sounds like it finally took, and Dunn a young top-four defenseman with a lot of upside. Both players would benefit from a change of scenery, so while you may not be happy to see one or the other traded (or either traded, as this off-season continues), it could be a Robby Fabbri situation for either. Granted, the Blues barely got a return on Fabbri. so there may not be much difference in Dunn heading to Seattle for free if he’s their official selection. Cap space is cleared with both player leaving, potentially giving the Blues a shot at taking a big-name run.

But who knows (unless you’ve touched the internet today) what will happen. Sit back, watch people throw some fish at Pike Place Market, and grab a beer.
