‘Tis the season for signing draft picks, and the Blues have signed their top priority. The team announced today that they have signed their 2021 first round pick, Zach Bolduc, to an entry-level contract. Bolduc, who has spent the last two seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, was selected by the Blues 17th overall at this year’s NHL Draft.
The 18 year old center is projected to be a point producer, but according to the excellent work done by Alex Potts over at All About The Jersey, could also need some work fine tuning his offensive abilities.
Our own Gabe Foley had this to say about Bolduc:
Bolduc is a grinder. He’s a big-body player with the ability to overpower opponents and force his way into the heart of the opposing defense. He isn’t neccesarily ferocious but he is powerful and determined. This ability to shove the defense back has worked well to help provide Bolduc with great time and space to use his shot, easily the best part of his game. Thanks to his generally-strong stature, Bolduc’s shot is a howitzer. His mechanisms are strong and fluid, adding an extra layer of accuracy to the strong shot.
Bolduc’s ELC is for three years since he’s under the age of 21. Specific terms of the contract have not been disclosed yet.
