Goaltender: Jake Allen

Game Highlights*:

*More like "Proof that the Blues were on the ice to begin with" The Blues took to the ice tonight in Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Rangers. The only thing they took on tonight was water. Picking up the action in the first, Blues and Rangers playing some 4-on-4 hockey. Dan Girardi makes it 1-0 on a deflection past Allen.

Just a few moments later the Rangers were on a short powerplay. Jimmy Vesey fires the puck in the back of the net for the 2-0 Rangers lead.

As if the Blues being down 2-0 wasn't enough, Henrik Lundqvist wasn't about to let the Blues back into this one.

The only highlight from the Blues side of things in the first period was Allen's stop on J.T. Miller.

There was also a goal review early on in the period. However, I will spare you the official explanation. Long story short it didn't cross the goal line. It went from bad to worse in the second period. Fat Rick Nash makes it 3-0. He banks it off Allen and it goes in.

New York wasn't done. On another man advantage, Jake Allen gives up a juicy rebound. Mats Zuccarello taps in the pass from Chris Kreider to make it 4-0 bad guys. It also ends Jake Allen's night. Needless to say, the Blues didn't help Carter out either.

Five-to-Nothing. That was your final score tonight. No effort for the Blues. 35 shots on goal might have been generous. It sure didn't seem they had that many. On to the next one in Dallas. Maybe the Blues will make the trip this time.

And finally at least one good thing happened tonight. Congrats to Jay "Fun Bobby" Bouwmeester on game number 1000. (Look at a pic of Bouw, and then look at a picture from the "Fun Bobby" character from Friends.)

Come celebrate Jay Bouwmeester's 1000th game!

Jay Bouwmeester always seems older than what he is - he's just 33 (which in hockey years I suppose is elderly) but it always feels like he's been playing for years longer than that. Tonight is his 1000th game, which is a milestone that he should've hit a long time ago, but he's missed some time here and there after his iron man streak ended.

So, congrats to JayBo on 1000 games. Not many NHL players have that kind of health and longevity. There are only 16 other active players who have played as many or more games as Bouwmeester.

The Blues will have to deal with Henrik Lundqvist tonight. Considering their scoring issues as of late, that probably isn't the news that they wanted to hear. The line-up's unchanged, so something else is going to have to click for them to have any offensive luck.

This is your GameDay Thread. Comment like you're happy for an NHL player who may or may not moonlight as an accountant.

Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.

The Blues's scoring troubles continue regardless of their win over the Los Angeles Kings.

So, the Blues haven't been scoring. At all. As Adam so helpfully pointed out, the Blues have scored one goal in five of their last nine games. They won Saturday night against the Kings thanks to a stellar performance by Jake Allen, which still leaves questions - if the Blues couldn't solve Peter Budaj, how in the world will they solve a more talented goaltender?

Oh, look, tonight they face either Henrik Lundqvist or Antti Raanta.

The Blues beat the Rangers on October 15th by the score of 3-2. Scoring three goals in one game? That's unpossible. Well, maybe not completely unpossible with a road power play that's clicking at almost 26%, but still. No one likes to feel like they have an upward slog during the first month of the season, but if the scoring issues continue, it's going to get harder to snap out of it.
