Five unanswered goals huh? Well, see you later.

Blues Lineup:

Forwards - Jaden Schwartz/Jori Lehtera/Vladimir Tarasenko, Alexander Steen/Patrik Berglund/David Perron, Robby Fabbri/Kyle Brodziak/Dmitrij Jaskin, Scottie Upshall/Wade Megan/Ryan Reaves

Defensemen - Joel Edmundson/Alex Pietrangelo, Brad Hunt/Kevin Shattenkirk, Jay Bouwmeester/Colton Parayko

Goaltender - Jake Allen

Game Highlights:

With Paul Stastny being placed on the IR, the Blues called up rookie Wade Megan. The Blues didn't have to face Ben Bishop, so they had that going for them. They also have David Perron, who has been great so far this season. He opened up the scoring for the Blues when he forced a turnover in front of the Tampa Bay goal. One nifty move from Perron later, 1-0 Blues.

Just 33 seconds later, the Blues scored again. Welcome to the NHL Wade. Megan scores his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot. Talk about efficient. Ryan Reaves got the initial shot on net. Megan was there to net the rebound and just like that it was 2-0.

The Lightning weren't gonna go away though. Their first goal came on the powerplay. Victor Hedman fired the puck toward the net and Brian Boyle was there for the tip in. 2-1 Blues.

Hey, at least the Blues still had the lead right? Until the end of the second that is. Tampa Bay scores on another deflection. Michael Bournival deflected a Jason Garrison shot, and tied the game at 2.

Moving ahead to the third period, it's just all down hill for the Blues at this point. Tampa Bay pulls ahead thanks to Alex Killorn. Off the post nothing but net. It should only count if he called "post" first.

Did I say down hill? I meant fell off a fucking cliff. Not only did the Lightning make it 4-2 on this goal from Drouin....Jake Allen appeared to have gotten hurt as well.

And just because we all wanted to be put out of our misery....5-2. You tried Brad. Mike is a little upset you didn't stop him though.

The Blues are off until the 28th. A break seems like it will do the team some good.

The St. Louis Blues played a hard game against the Tampa Bay Lighting in the second game of a back to back road series. Unfortunately the Blues ran out of gas in the third period and took a L for the night with a score of 4-2.

Let's drink the bad memories away and recap together Blues fans.

The St. Louis Blues had a bit of a rocky start in the first period. The puck seemed to bauble and stick to the ice in Tampa Bay and that caused quite a few wiffs and fans on the puck. However, the blue and yellow were able to capitalize first. At 7:50 of the first, Alex Pietrangelo sniped former Blues goaltender Benny Bishop.

The Lightning were not far behind, and they have snipers of their own. What felt like seconds after the Blues goal, At 10:44 of the period, Tampa’s Alex Killorn put the puck through Jaroslav Halak’s 5-hole tying up the game.

Jaro kept the Blues in the game all night.

The Second period was a much tighter style of play from the STL. After a SPECTACULAR save and possible use of his many Midichlorians, Steven Stamkos was able to get the puck past Halak at 1:43, making the score 2-1. Jaden Schwartz would keep the Blues from falling much further behind, and at 3:45 he put a wrister past Bish.

The Blues unfortunately couldn't hold the Lighting off for long. In the third the Bolts put multiple nails in the coffin for the Blues. Halak still was spectacular throughout the period and honestly I really can't fault him on just about any of those goals. The last 3 of the game resulted in Ken Hitchcock pulling Halak and playing with an extra attacker. The Defense came out strong with Jay Bouwmeester making a spectacular... save?***

The goaltending tonight, it was extremely strong. Bishop was possesed by a GD skyscraper... or some other wall like object with legs. and Jaro Fucking Halak. Damn did he have the powers of a master Jedi. I can't really say to many bad things about him tonight. I feel like this was a "good" loss, unfortunate but it wasn't a horrible game and really wasn't a result of a mass hockey amnesia. Tweaky and or "tightening up" is definitely needed but I cannot put to much fault on anything but lucky bounces for the Bolts tonight. The hockey gods were just not on our side tonight boys, time to move on and line up for the next one against the Canadiens Tuesday night!

Well those are my thoughts what are yours? Let me know in the comments!

Both teams are coming off of back to back shutout wins. Will the Blues figure out the Bolts' potent offense?

The Lightning and Blues are playing well, with the Bolts getting 20 points so far on the season so far, and the Blues 18 though the Blues have done so in fewer games. Steven Stamkos has 10 goals to Alexander Steen's 12. They've both just won a game last night against overmatched opponents.

They also aren't in the same Conference and probably don't care much about tonight's game. But you should! Why? ADVANCED STATS.

Our stats guy Robb is using all of you guys as guinea pigs for some in-game numbers visualization (that's what the following stuff is - it'll look better when there're numbers in there). This won't be a regular thing, but please give Robb some feedback and let him know what you think.

This is your GameDay Thread. Pretend that you care about Florida for the second night in a row. Enjoy advanced stats, and keep your fingers crossed that the Blues remember to keep the puck away from Stamkos and Martin St. Louis.

The Blues Aim For Four Points From The Flortheast

The Blues get to work on their winter tans a little longer, sticking in Florida for a match tonight in Tampa Bay. Actually, the game is in Tampa; if the game was in Tampa Bay, they'd all have to wear snorkels. The game will be tough enough as it is; while the Panthers are cellar dwellers, the Lightning are 2nd in the<strike> Flortheast</strike> <strike>Atlantic</strike> Flortheast Division. This is definitely the tougher test of the two games in the Sunshine State. While the local fans might not be as enthusiastic for these cross-conference games, the Blues cannot disregard the 2 points that are up for grabs tonight.

Line-up changes to note:

#stlblues lineup changes vs. #tblightning: Leopold in for Cole, Porter for Cracknell and Halak for Elliott.
— Jeremy Rutherford (@jprutherford) November 2, 2013

The Lightning are off to a good start this season, 9-4-0 so far this year. Granted, it's still early in the season and 4 of those games were against the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers. While the "Fenwick Close" stat suggests that they aren't always sharp possession-wise, you'd be fooling yourself to dismiss the Bolts. They are certainly making their shots count; the Bolts are averaging 3.10 goals per game (half a goal behind the Blues). They are also scoring on 22.6 % of their power plays. While I have my doubts about their blueline, they have enjoyed some outstanding goaltending. St Louis' own Ben Bishop is currently their starter, boasting an 8-2-0 record and a 2.17 GAA / .924 Sv% stat line. Just last night Ben shut out the Hurricanes, stopping all 31 shots against. The backup is Anders Lindback (3.48 GAA / .864 Sv%) who has gone 1-2-0 in 4 appearances so far. I don't see who'll be starting tonight... but if I had a crystal ball, I bet it'd say Big Ben.

Scoring-wise, the team is led in points and goals by some guy named Steven Stamkos (10G / 9 A), which puts him in 2nd place in the league for goals and points. I don't know who has scored more goals than that, but he must be pretty damn good. OH, RIGHT. The supporting cast includes Martin St. Louis, who is next on the team leaders list with 7 goals and 16 total points, and noted Newfie Teddy Purcell with 4 goals and 9 total points. Some other names that you'll find familiar: <strike>Captain</strike> Mister Roboto Eric Brewer is still with the Bolts, as is B.J. Crombeen. The Beej ruled the league in 5-minute majors last year, which must cause some sort of cognitive dissonance for anti-fighting advocate GM Steve Yzerman.

The Blues knocked off the Florida Panthers last night in a 4-0 shutout. Can they keep the win streak going against the Tampa Bay Lightning?

Big Ben Bishop, local kid done good and former Blues Goalie of Tomorrow has turned into the Tampa Bay Lightning's Goalie of Today. He shut out the Carolina Hurricanes last night, winning 3-0 and stopping 31 shots. The Blues skated to a 4-0 victory over the Florida Panthers Friday, with Brian Elliott's shutout bumping him up into a tie with Roman Turek for third overall.

Chances are good someone is eventually going to score tonight, but it'd be surprising if it broke either Elliott or Bishop's streaks. Jaroslav Halak will be getting the start against the Bolts, and chances are good that the Lightning backup Cedrick Desjardins will be getting the start against the out of conference opponent.

The Blues need to keep an eye on the one-two punch that is Martin "Pretty Fly For A Short Guy" St. Louis and Steven Stamkos. That bomb from the circles is a bitch to stop. Stamkos has 10 goals and 19 points this year; St. Louis ahs 7 goals and 9 assists. That combo, plus Bishop, is why the Bolts have nine wins so far this season and are a surprising second place in the Atlantic Division behind the Maple Leafs' 20 points.

Will Alexander Steen score again tonight? Probably, but he won't want to talk about it.

This is your morning open thread. Check back later for an excellent preview from CCR before the gameday thread later tonight at 6:00. In the meantime, stop by Raw Charge and say hi.
