Its Late. I am tired. I am pissed. So this is going to get nasty Blues Fans…

Just Fuck the L.A. Kings. Fuck them hard with a railing or something with a sharp pointy end and lots of thorns and other not so pleasant shit. I feel like every game against LA should henceforth be known as the Shitting the bed Series.

The St. Louis Blues let in 2 goals in the first period and according to Home Boy Stats man had 22 hits laid upon their bodies by the Kings. The Blues Play was reckless and pretty much without any of the toughness and tenacity we have grown accustom to seeing form the St. Louis Blues. The second period would see the Kings take a 3-0 lead with yet again no response from the club from Saint Louis. Had I had some form of alcohol this game really would have driven me to drink because just damn. Everything about the team from LA just infuriates every fiber of my fucking tiny little girlish being. The third period wasn’t much better as the boys in blue were drilled in every form and in every position by everything but an actual stick up the ass. BUT Holy Shit at 5:54 they scored a mother fucking goal. SEE KEVIN SHATTENKIRK IS WORTH A DAMN!

With :16 seconds left Vladimir Tarasenko put another puck in the back of the fucking net.

They fucking show up with 5 minutes left in the game. Not okay St. Louis Blues. NOT. FUCKING. OKAY. SHOW THE FUCK UP FOR A FULL SIXTY MINUTES FOR GOD SAKES!

I am going to bed now. Fuck LA and their Late starts. I can't give any Silver linings bull shit tonight, just not in the mood.

In their only trip to Los Angeles this season, the Blues want a cleaner, sharper game than what transpired on Friday afternoon.

Reading Dan O'Neill's Morning Skate piece for answers as to why the Blues played so awfully bad on Friday against the Sharks is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not a soul seemed to be able to pinpoint what happened.

"You can't really look at the odd starting time, conditions were the same for both teams," defenseman Barret Jackman said. "There's no excuses. They came out prepared and we didn't. We have to be ready to play."

Hm.

"Tough to say what happened, one way or the other," said defenseman Ian Cole, who scored his first goal of the season in the loss. "But it's obviously not acceptable, regardless of what time of day it is or what holiday was the day before."

Ok then. Whatever the reason for it, the team knows that it can't stand around on the ice with their thumbs up their bums for the first period tonight. The Sharks made them pay, and the Kings'll do the exact same thing.

This is your GameDay Thread. It's a late starter tonight. Let's stay awake for all three periods. Let's hope it ends in regulation for our European friends. Let's make Ben Scrivens look dumb (at least on the ice). Let's avoid losing two in a row for the first time this season.

Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.

The Blues LAst Stop Is In The Land Of Make Believe. The Challenge Is Real, Though.

Well, we can't say we weren't warned - the Sharks are a good team, and they won. The Blues can't dwell on that too much, because the next team is pretty darn tough, too. The Blues travel south from the Bay Area to make their last stop on this road trip in Los Angeles. The Kings are a consistently tough team, but are known to go cold for streaks also. They always seem up to the challenge when facing the Blues, though. Needless to say, a win here would help right the ship, and also be very cathartic for us fans. This is the perfect situation for a rebound game.

On November 13, the Kings placed Jonathan Quick on IR with a groin strain. Groins being tricky things, it's not certain when he'll back - the original prognosis is that he'd be out until late December. When I first read the news, I thought the Blues might have caught a break - at least he'd be out for the 12/02 game (to include the next matchup, 01/02/14, would be optimistic). Quick is a large part of how the Kings eliminated the Blues these past two postseasons. Whew, at least we won't have to worry about him! That's an automatic advantage for the Blues.

So, backup goaltender Ben Scrivens posts 2 shutouts in his first three games after the Quick injury, and now leads the league in Save Percentage at .944 and is tied for 2nd in GAA at 1.52. Since inheriting the starter role, he's gone 5-1-3.

So ... yeah ....

Oh, it gets worse.... if you take the #FancyStats into consideration (and really, why shouldn't it be at least part of the picture?), you can see why LA is able to hold their own in the tough tough Pacific Division: by holding onto the puck. As of Sunday evening, if you go to Behind the Net or Extra Skater, 5 of the top 8 players in the entire NHL in terms of Corsi and Fenwick at 5v5 play are LA Kings. That's damn impressive. Those 5 players are Justin Williams, Jake Muzzin, Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, and rookie Tyler Toffoli. All of those are forwards, except Muzzin.

It's not all gloom and doom, though. Scrivens' one regulation loss came in LA's last game, a 2-1 loss to Calgary on Saturday night. In the 4 games prior to that, the Kings won only once, and eked out the loser charity point in OT or shootout losses the other 3 times. The Kings power play unit is 0-for-18 in the past 5 games. When the goaltending isn't putting up a shutout, the Kings seem to be scoring just enough goals to match their opponent. This all contributes to the LA "puck luck" stat, PDO, being below 1.000, despite doing a lot of "little things" right. They're simply not scoring right now. You'd have to be hitting the hash pipe say that this is an easy team to beat, but they do have vulnerabilities.

As for the more mundane stats, the overall points leader for the Kings is Kopitar, with 7 goals and 17 assists for 24 points. Mike Richards follows with 6G / 14A for 20 points. Next is the leading goal-scorer, Justin Williams, with 10G / 9A, and finally defenseman Drew Doughty with 5G / 8A. The rookies that you may not know, but will want to keep an eye on, are the aforementioned Toffoli and Linden Vey.

Final Verse: We're still stuck on the west coast, so the opening faceoff is not until 9:30 PM St Louis time. The TV broadcast is again on Fox Sports MidWest, and the radio call is on KMOX 1120 AM. The GDT should drop shortly ahead of the puck. Until then, consider this your pregame warmup. Gather here, shake the cobwebs out of your head from your nap (especially for our European fans), put on a pot of coffee, and dream what it'd be like if the Blues had the Beverly Hills bandwagon that the Kings have ...

You know what? Enough with the message/revenge games. Just play hockey.

So far the Blues have had to deal with a revenge game from Colorado (good job, good effort, Avs!) and one from San Jose (ok, seriously, good job Sharks), now the Blues get to deal with one with the Los Angeles Kings. This time, the revenge is on the Blues' front, and let's face it, it doesn't count.

A regular season win won't make up for the heartbreaking 4-2 playoff loss that the Blues suffered. That loss sets square on the shoulders of an anemic offense that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn more than anything else. Has the Blues' offense improved? Obviously. They're second behind the Blackhawks with a 3.44 goals a game average. Not bad for a boring ol' defensively minded team, huh? The Kings're scoring a whole goal on average less than the Blues are a game. Maybe this year will be different. Maybe they can take care of things if they run into LA in the playoffs again.

But a regular season win? Doesn't change a damn thing about the playoffs last season. Call me when they finish off the Kings in the postseason this year.

One interesting thing to look at when it comes to the Kings and Blues are future Team USA Olympic teammates Dustin Brown and David Backes. I hope to God that they get along better in the Olympics than they do during the regular season.

Uhoh. Someone opened the Carlo Colaiacovo door on that one.

And then there's this one, where Backes is all like "GTFO."

Actually, you know what? I just think Backes has a beef with the Kings. Ask Jack Johnson, Slava Voynov, Colin Frasier, and obviously, Drew Doughty:

Daaaamn, Gina. It's a shame that tonight's puck drop is 9:00 St. Louis time. I don't know if I'll be able to stay up all night. But it's all good, because if you check back later, there'll be a recap - but not before a game preview by CCR and of course your GameDay Thread.
